This is a unique book about mining, and Wheal Jane. Over a 20 year period the author has photographed the mine. The book contains photographs, which provide insights into the shaft sinking, raise boring and many other aspects of mining. Some of these processes have rarely been photographed before. The photographs show the hostile environment in which both miner and photographer were often working.

Alongside the excellent photographs simple explanations are given to describe both the processes themselves and the difficulties encountered in taking the photographs. This book will appeal to the miner, those interested in industrial railways and anyone with an enquiring mind regarding the industry.
